About the event
Calabash Tales is a warm and sensory-rich performance featuring storytelling, music, and rhythm inspired by the West African griot tradition. Three performers invite the audience into a calm and inclusive experience filled with song, drumming, and movement.
The performance is suitable for children and families, and is especially designed for children aged approximately 4 and up. Through a simple and poetic story about friendship, listening, and courage, children are invited to participate through clapping, rhythms, and small movements.
On stage you will meet three experienced performers: Solo Diarra (Burkina Faso), Bafana Nhlapo (South Africa), and Sarjo Sankareh (The Gambia), who together create an intimate and vibrant meeting between music, storytelling, and audience participation.
This is a unique performance where children do not just watch and listen — they experience the rhythm and story with their whole bodies.
