Hitchhiker - from Mathallen to Sentralen
Originally opened on the second floor of Mathallen Vulkan in 2013, Hitchhiker was the country's first restaurant serving authentic Asian street food.
When Sentralen opened on 1 March 2016, Sentralen Restaurant was located on the corner of the building. There, visitors were served partial dishes consisting of good Norwegian produce in season. After 7 memorable years, Sentralen Restaurant closed, and Hitchhiker took over the premises.
Since September 12, 2023, Hitchhiker has been living on at Sentralen!

The entrance to Hitchhiker can be found from both the front desk and from the door on the street corner. The menu is composed of various street food dishes around the world, with a particular focus on East Asia.

The Hitchhiker restaurant is located on the corner of Øvre Slottsgate and Tollbugata and is a bright and modern venue. The venue is perfect for breakfast meetings, with its central location and welcoming atmosphere.
The 177 m² restaurant has an L-shaped floor plan with an open kitchen. The room has high ceilings and large window surfaces that provide plenty of natural light. Two of the windows have colourful stained glass windows by Are Mokkelbost. The venue combines industrial elements such as exposed ventilation pipes, polished concrete floors and exposed brick with warm touches such as large plants, modern art and soft paper lamps that add to a warm vibe.
The venue has three entrances: from Sentralen's reception in Øvre Slottsgate, from the corner entrance in Øvre Slottsgate/Tollbugata, and from Sentralen in Akersgata.
The restaurant can be rented exclusively for breakfast meetings between 08:00 and 10:00. During this period, the restaurant is closed to other guests, and dining takes place from Sentralen's event menu.
Beyond this, Hitchhiker can be hired for dinners after 5pm. Hitchhiker can book DJ for an additional charge.
